Another
of the reasons for my visit to Chongqing was trying to better understand the major hydropower project in China's interior and largest in the world today ( imag01) since I was 10 years ago and visiting Itaipu in Brazil, which today is the second world's largest dam, and was impressed enough.
Unfortunately there was no way to see it live while in Chongqing just three days, so I had to settle for visiting the huge Three Gorges Museum "in People's Square in the city, where if I see the scale of this spectacular feat of engineering (imag0203).
What also can be seen there, along with more history of the city in different plants, the entire area has been affected by the dam.
It was a fairly rich in archaeological sites dating back thousands of years, that "luck" were excavated and removed from there in a hurry, at least the most important, to take them to museums with displays and stores and so you will not be forgotten by history under the new waters of this dam. The museum is free and closes at five o'clock, and well worth visiting at least the first floor, which is directly related to this work, the others are other issues, sometimes very different, for example, the strength of the city in World War II to the dreaded Japanese invasion with the help of the Americans! the less amazing!
And that not everything is prey, an image of the Piazza del Popolo they had two girls to learn to skate game (imag04), very funny!
